I consider myself very fortunate to work in the realm of the vessel. Vessels that play out in our rituals, ceremonies, and hospitality. It is a timeless and integral part of all cultures to enhance out daily lives with beauty and meaning...with art.

At some point as a kid, I became a pyromaniac with a container fetish: clay was the natural obsession to follow. I bought my first potter's wheel at fifteen, knowing even at that tender age that I had found..."it"....I still feel the same.

After studying clay in college and a three year apprenticeship, I ran away to the Islands and spent the next ten years on Andros Island in the Bahamas. Here I honed my skills as a potter and raised two beautiful daughters, happily immersed in the colors and textures of island life. Moving back to the "real" world several years ago, I set up two working studios, spending the summer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and the remainder of the year in Melbourne Beach, Florida.

My porcelain vessels begin on the potter's wheel and are then gently altered, stretched pulled a bit from symmetry. Each piece is individually designed with six to eight different slips and glazes. This layering allows me to highlight various features....an exaggerated rim..added texture..the line of a handle....the result is a surface with subtle hue changes and depth.

Without question, water has been one of my greatest inspirations and in this recent body of work I seek to create graceful, fluid forms, with patterns and colors that suggest the motion and beauty of the sea.

My work is made entirely by me and is not mass produced. I work in small series of forms, striving for high quality and aesthetic expression of the individual piece.
